IRMSA CPD

IRMSA’s Continuous Professional Development Programme (CPD) was launched in January 2013.

Registered members are required to subscribe to continuous professional development in order to function effectively. The objective is to ensure that a continuous professional development culture relating to learning and competence is maintained at its highest level to ensure improvement, knowledge and skills enhancement as well as the development of personal qualities to ensure professional execution of duties throughout the Risk Manager’s career. They therefore have the responsibility to keep abreast of developments and knowledge in their area of expertise in order to maintain their competence. Members shall strive through personal initiative to maintain professional competence, and keep abreast of emerging issues, world trends, etc. in the field of risk management. Members shall contribute to the development of the risk management profession through the sharing of skills, ideas and participation in networking to promote and enhance the competence of the profession.

In order to maintain or upgrade your professional designation, all IRMSA Associate and Fellow Members will need to ensure that they comply with their CPD requirement. Failure to do so will mean the loss of the designation which the member currently holds as well as deregistration from the South African Qualifications (SAQA) National Learner Records Database (NLRD) where their details as well as professional standing have been recorded.

The onus lies with the member to keep a record of their activities as well as attendance to CPD events e.g. signed attendance register, certificate etc. in the event they are chosen, as this may be required for audit purposes.
