IRMSA / BarnOwl Risk Management Maturity Survey –

How is my organisation doing?

IRMSA in partnership BarnOwl have launched the first annual risk management maturity survey which was conducted over the period of July to August 2015. The aim of the survey was to get an indication as to the risk maturity level across a broad range of organisations in Southern Africa and to get an indication of the maturity levels per industry sector. The value of a survey such as this one helps risk managers to assess how they are performing against peers in the industry and across industries as well as improve their organisation’s risk processes.

The survey suggests that organisations are increasingly emphasising the value of risk management in their organisations; the perception of risk management as “a department that says NO” is slowly diminishing. The survey further found risk management software to be an enabler of improved risk maturity.

Please click here to read the survey and ask yourself the following questions:

  • How does my organisation see the value of risk management?
  • Given my industry sector risk maturity level, how is my own organisation performing against this?
  • What interventions will I put in place to improve my organisation’s risk management practices?
