The aim of this workshop is to not only provide a theoretical foundation of operations and operational risk, but also to make it practical in every day decision making to reach organisational objectives.

 Course Outline:

Guide 73 and ISO31000 define risk as “the effect of uncertainty on objectives”. What this implies is that every activity performed by an organisation is surrounded by uncertainty – as every activity should be focused towards organisational objectives.

Due to theory blindness, most organisations see “operations” as a separate function within the organisation. If you apply the definition of operations “The business process that transforms inputs into outputs” it is the responsibility of everyone – even HR. By applying the definition, there is a request for filling a vacancy (input), there is a transformation taking place (recruitment, interviews etc,) and then there is an output – the appointment of a competent employee. Each of these sub-processes in this HR process is surrounded by uncertainty.

Who should attend?

This training is targeted at middle and senior management who need to understand and be able to identify the uncertainties surrounding their business process of input-transformation and output.
