This workshop provides participants with an opportunity to learn how to communicate their risk message at executive and board levels.

Course Outline:

Effective communication at executive and board level is a key determinant of the success of the risk management process. This workshop provides participants with an opportunity to learn how to communicate their risk message at executive and board levels. This programme is presented as a facilitated and interactive workshop: Our approach requires the participants to think creatively about communication in the workplace.

At the end of the workshop, the participants are expected to be able to:

  • Evaluate and understand the communication needs of the leaders of their organisation
  • Adjust the risk message that they wish to communicate to fit the audience’s needs
  • Implement communication skills taught by our voice coach, Fiona Ramsay
  • Check the effectiveness of their communication efforts in the workplace

Who should attend?

Risk managers, Risk officers, Risk facilitators, Internal auditors, Senior managers, Executives and Board members. The workshop can also be used as an applied team building exercise.

About the Presenters

Prof Hermien Zaaiman


Associate professor (Applied Risk Management) and Manager of the Centre for Applied Risk Management (UARM) in the Faculty of Economic Sciences and IT at the North-West University Vaal Triangle Campus.
BSc. Honours (Psychology, SU) , MSc (Physics, NWU) and PhD (Social Science, Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
Thirty plus years experience in a number of sectors: academia and scientific research; trading, investment and financial risk systems – software developer, project and programme manager, business architect and project risk consultant in a number of large companies and workshop facilitator. 

 

Fiona Ramsay

Voice coach, Actress, Workshop Facilitator, Speaker, Director and Producer, BA (Eng, Drama, Pol Sci, UCT),
MA (‘Giving Voice to Mandela: Accent Acquisition for the actor Idris Elba in the role of Nelson Mandela in the film Long Walk to Freedom’, Wits)
Thirty plus years experience in voice coaching, theatre, film and radio, locally and internationally. Owner of Speakeasy Vocal Academy. Career highlights include Director of Theatresports Company, SA; Teacher at the Market Theatre Laboratory; Vocal consultant, Performance Coach and Casting Director – Scandal (Soap Opera) ; Member of VASTA (Voice & Speech Training Ass. USA);
