Survival skills for today’s risk professional

However great you think your risk management is, the outside world can always be relied upon to deliver both shocks and creeping changes that can throw you off course. In the UK this year the Brexit upheaval is forcing organisations to examine new scenarios for their future trading and operating environments. And perhaps this is a forerunner of growing political uncertainties in many economies. Also appearing on our risk radar are the rapid developments in new technologies like robotics, artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet of Things, all of which could bring about profound changes in business models. Keeping abreast of these changes, and understanding how they might play out in a local context, requires a sound basis of professional risk management competence combined with opportunities – like this conference – to raise our awareness of what’s going on. IRMSA and IRM are pleased to be working together to present some ideas on what the big trends might be, and how risk professionals can prepare for them.
