THE INSTITUTE OF RISK MANAGEMENT - UK (IRM)

Accreditation: Not accredited in South Africa

Overview: IRM is risk management's professional education body in the UK. Established as a not-for-profit organisation, the Institute is governed by practising risk professionals and has strong links to leading universities and business schools across the world . A key objective of the IRM is to provide flexible routes to professional qualifications and training in risk management.


Courses
:

The Certificate in Risk Management

6-9 months duration.

International.

Distance learning.

Assessed by examination.
This practioner-level qualification provides a sound foundation in risk management theory and practice.

It can be taken either as a stand-alone course, or as an introduction to the IRM Associate Diploma, over 6-9 months.

Two examinations - one tests risk knowledge, the other application through case studies

The Associate Diploma in Risk Management

Flexible learning - achievable in 2 years minimum.

International.

Distance-learning.

Assessed by assignments marks and examinations.
A challenging post graduate professional qualification, the Associate Diploma is usually taken over a few years and completed via distance learning. It is recognised worldwide as the sign of a risk management professional.

The Diploma comprises five core subjects and a sixth, specialist subject chosen from a list.

Entry requirements - CRM (as above) or

Completed a degree, Masters or MBA or

Relevant professional qualification - eg ACII, FCII or

25 years of age and minimum 3 years relevant work experience
