The Executive Committee offers a wealth of expertise from within the profession with broad representation from Industry and the financial services sector.


President
Hendrik Thessner is the Executive responsible for Operational and Enterprise Risk at Nedbank Corporate level and has been a Fellow of The Institute of Risk Management since 2005. His Enterprise-wide Risk Management experience includes implementation of the Enterprise-wide Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Frameworks and the implementation of BaseI II within the Operational Risk environment. Hendrik is also a certified Compliance Professional and holds an MBA. He is the current President of IRMSA.

1st Vice President
Berenice Francis is the Imperial Holdings Executive responsible for Risk, Transformation and People Development. She is the First Vice President of IRMSA.

2nd Vice President
Sheralee Morland is the Executive responsible for Enterprise Risk Management at Nedbank Group level. Sheralee is the 2nd Vice President of IRMSA and also holds the Events and Conference portfolio.

Honorary Secretary
Nico Bianco is the Executive: Risk Consulting at Aon. He is responsible for strategic broking and the Alternative Risk Transfer, Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Control and Mitigation, Legal Risk Management, and Crisis Management divisions. Nico has been appointed as the Honorary Secretary of IRMSA and will head up the Risk, Legal and Compliance Committee.

Honorary Treasurer
Philip Tillman is the Managing Director at CQS GRC solutions; he has been involved in Enterprise-Wide Risk Management field for 4 years and has been part of implementations of ERM software solutions at over 30 Enterprises in Southern Africa across multiple industries. Philip has been appointed as the Honorary Treasurer and will head up the Finance Committee.
Pieter le Roux is a Human Resource Developer (HRD), holds an Honours degree in Operations Management, Advanced Diploma in Banking Law and a Certificate in Compliance Risk Management. He has 22 years' experience in various HRD disciplines and 8 years' experience in Compliance Risk Management Training and Development in the banking industry. Currently with Standard Bank South Africa (SBSA) as a Senior Manager overseeing compliance and other risk training and development initiatives for the Group; he is currently the Chairperson of the Education and Technical Committee.
Chris Brits has 20 years of short term insurance and risk management consulting experience. He started his career in 1990 at Commercial Union Insurance Company and left to join Alexander Forbes 5 years later as a consultant in their Risk Management Division. Chris is currently the Executive Leader Risk Management at Alexander Forbes. He holds a Masters degree in Commerce from Cranfield and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Henley in the U.K. Chris is currently the main representative from IRMSA on the Cruywagen IRMSA Risk Foundation and is a member of the Membership Committee.
Alicia Swart is currently Group Manager: Risk Management at Airports Company South Africa. She is the chairperson of the IRMSA Membership Committee.
Bheki Gutshwa is a qualified CIA and CCSA. He also holds BCompt and Advanced Programme in Risk Management. His areas of expertise are internal audit and risk management. He is currently a Risk Manager at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA). Bheki is the Deputy Chairman of the Membership Committee.
Desiree Byragee is currently a Compliance Risk Management Officer at Standard Bank. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree and is an Admitted Attorney.
She also holds a Certificate in Compliance Risk Management and a Diploma in Information Technology. She is currently completing her Masters degree in Corporate Law. She is the Compliance Officer and Legal Advisor for IRMSA.
Mark Robins is Vice President-Risk Management at AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. He has worked in the mining industry for the last twenty-one years. Prior to that for consulting engineers in the UK. He has BSc(Hons) in Civil Engineering and MSc(Eng) in Geotechnical and Materials Engineering and is Chartered and Professional Engineer.
Riana Mooi is currently the Head of Risk for the Group Marketing, Communications and Corporate Affairs and Group Strategic Planning Clusters at Nedbank. She holds a Certificate in Risk Management and is currently completing her Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management.

To co-ordinate and manage their event, organisational and membership requirements, IRMSA have appointed a full time team consisting of:

Gillian le Cordeur Appointed as the General Manager of IRMSA from 1 July 2011, Gillian has been involved in the association management industry for over eight years and has managed numerous not for profit organisations and institutes in various industries. The new General Manager is looking forward to focussing on the Institute and assisting in its aim to be the leading professional institute for risk professionals and practitioners in South Africa.
Kathleen Osterloh Kathleen Osterloh is responsible for administration, membership and committee management.
Nthabiseng Mdhlozini is responsible for Events and Marketing at IRMSA.
Bronwyn Blyth is currently assisting with IRMSA Events and Marketing, and she is involved with the Cruywagen IRMSA Risk Foundation.
Sarah Bain is currently assisting the membership department.
