Dr. Steven Briers has identified 13 elements, with 39 sub-elements, that can make up a risk. He calls this the "DNA of a Risk”. When conducting risk assessments, Risk Practitioners traditionally look at 2-3 elements of a risk, such as severity and likelihood. However there are many other elements that must be considered. Dr. Briers will explore these in more detail.  

Dr. Briers’ talk is condensed from his book "A New Language of Risk”, which is based on his Doctoral Thesis. It is a study that no serious risk practitioner can afford to miss. 

About the Speaker:

Steven Briers is a partner of KPMG, based in Johannesburg, and is a member of the firm’s global working groups for enterprise risk management and governance, risk and compliance. He has worked in various risk management disciplines during his working career, including insurance, risk finance, loss prevention, enterprise risk management and corporate governance, and has performed risk assignments in over 30 countries around the globe.
