The Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) is to host a one-day training, Introduction to Risk Management, designed for risk managers across all industry sectors in southern Africa.

This training will follow the Commercial Risk Africa one-day event on Risk Frontiers—Southern Africa: understanding risk management in today’s global economy. This IRMSA training is to take place at Cresta Lodge, Gaborone, Botswana on Friday, 24 July 2015.

Course Outline:

The management of Risk is an evolving discipline that builds on current knowledge in a diverse range of activities. It is therefore imperative that risk managers and practitioners keep abreast of these changes and commit to lifelong learning and ensure the currency of their knowledge, skills set and technical competence.

This course identifies and explains the need for Risk Management and introduces the delegate to Risk Management best practices as presented by ISO31000.

About the presenter

Laura Mallabone has a MSc (Chemical Engineer) which she completed at Chalmers, Sweden as well as an
MBA – Wits Business School, Johannesburg. Laura has over 20 years in Risk Management Experience. Some of her experience was in positions such as a risk management consultant, a business risk manager and as a global head of sustainability risk for a multinational mining company. She is currently the Director of her own company, Satarla. Her risk experience lies in integrated risk management which included risk facilitation at operational to board level and included technical, strategic, business, disaster risk management and scenario planning, as well as business continuity.
