IRMSA Conference - 2019 Call for Proposals

Due to numerous requests, we have extended the date for submissions. Closing date: 5 April 2019.
We look forward to receiving your proposals.

The IRMSA Annual Conference 2019 will be taking place on the 2nd and 3rd of October 2019, with a Masterclass on the 4th of October 2019, at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, South Africa.

The theme for the year is #impact - A Year of Risk Activism

The IRMSA Executive Committee would like to call on members to propose possible presentations that will be of interest to and benefit the IRMSA membership and partners. 
Given what we intend to achieve, your proposals should empower business leaders, boards, executives and risk professionals to have impact, identify the alternative futures and have the difficult conversations. 
IRMSA has accepted the challenge to partner with the private and public sectors in order to transform the future of South Africa.

Submissions will be evaluated on"

  • Relevance
  • Significance
  • Technical Quality
  • Practical Application/Impact
  • Good presentation skills

Should you be selected to present at the Conference, please note that your presentation will be required two weeks prior to the event taking place.


Submissions should be structured in terms of:

  • Case studies outlining recent achievements / Innovations relevant to Risk Management
  • Simulations of systems recently introduced
  • Consider the audience: Attendees to this event represent both Public and Private Sector and include Risk Professionals, Board Members and Executives from South Africa and the international Risk fraternity.

Possible Topics include, but not limited to:

  • Leadership role that Risk Management plays in contributing to a better society, industry and country.
  • Success stories where Risk Management lead the difficult discussions in effective decision-making.
  • Identifying alternative futures - Risk Management leading the way in responding to the future .e.g the 4th revolution.
  • Practical improvement opportunities in growing risk maturity.
  • Any topic considered relevant and linked to the 2019 IRMSA Risk Report.

Submission Method:

All submissions must be received by the Institute by Friday, 5 April 2019.
