About the role:
Vumilia Africa, in partnership with the National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC), is seeking to identify a suitably qualified and highly experienced professional for the position of General Manager: Enterprise-Wide Risk Management.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished risk management executive to lead and implement a robust enterprise-wide risk management programme that supports NHFC’s developmental mandate, safeguards public resources, strengthens governance and compliance, and promotes organisational resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing NHFC’s Enterprise Risk Management policy and framework.
- Integrating risk management into organisational strategy, budgeting and performance management.
- Identifying, assessing and mitigating strategic, operational, financial, reputational and information technology risks.
- Supporting the development and monitoring of NHFC’s Risk Appetite Statement.
- Strengthening compliance with the PFMA, National Treasury Regulations and applicable governance requirements.
- Overseeing fraud risk management, investigations, corporate insurance and whistleblowing mechanisms.
- Leading business continuity, disaster recovery and organisational resilience initiatives.
- Assessing the effectiveness of internal controls and coordinating with Internal Audit.
- Providing comprehensive risk reports to Executive Management and relevant governance committees.
- Building, leading and mentoring a high-performing risk management team.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A postgraduate qualification in Risk Management, Commerce, Finance or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Enterprise-Wide Risk Management.
- At least five years’ experience at senior management level.
- Demonstrated senior-level proficiency in risk management, compliance, fraud management, corporate insurance and business continuity.
- Sound knowledge of the PFMA and National Treasury Regulations.
- Proven experience within a public-sector entity environment.
- Demonstrated ability to implement Enterprise-Wide Risk Management within a state entity.
- IRMSA Risk Management membership.
Advantageous requirements:
- IRMSA Risk Management Practitioner certification.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic leadership, strong analytical ability, ethical judgement, stakeholder influence, financial acumen, effective communication, and sound negotiation and problem-solving capabilities.
